Giving a little, can gain a lot

Giving a little, can gain a lot

Date: May 22, 2015

Last November, Adviser fp provided an insight into how philanthropic investment aligns with the family and personal values that many of our clients hold near and dear to their heart, and how this can deliver positive outcomes for the wider Western Sydney community (see article).

For many years, a number of our clients have shared with us their desire to maintain “philanthropic” values – be it working in a charitable organisation or giving money – and to instil family and personal values, which they’ve developed over many years (or perhaps over many generations) of wealth creation. This is one of the reasons why the Adviser fp community recently took on the challenge of incorporating philanthropy into the wealth creation process in support of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation (www.humpty.com.au).

Many of our clients were fortunate to have joined us in March this year for our Annual Client Briefing and to have heard from Ray Martin, a Humpty Ambassador and Patron of the Foundation, give an insight as to why he chose this ‘little Aussie battler’ as his preferred charity since it’s establishment in 1996.  As a children’s charity, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation has raised over $45 million and continues to make a significant impact on the lives of sick and injured children at children’s hospitals and health service centres in every state of Australia.

On average the Humpty Dumpty Foundation purchases 330 pieces of medical equipment each year and provides funding for numerous special projects including a paediatric fellowship (graduate doctor training), a part-time Nurse Educator for training in emergency paediatrics, a part-time Bio Mechanical Engineer and weekly visits by the “Clown Doctors” and the magical Fairy Gardens (which encourage and promote healing).

Families are also supported through the Special Projects program, which is designed to assist families with specific medical equipment or aides that a sick child may require for at home use. Read Zain’s story in this article (the tickle machine). Humpty relies heavily on support from the community to help fulfil the needs of children or babies who need our help – no donation is too small to make a difference to the life of a sick child.

Adviser fp is proud to announce that we have established a community giving page for the staff, friends and clients of Adviser fp, with the aim of raising $10,000 this year – enough money to purchase a Neonatal Humidifier ($4,180), a Paediatric Emergency Cart ($2,860) and two Oxygen Analysers ($1,330 each) for Western Sydney hospitals.

Every donation, no matter how big or small will help. In the lead up to the 30th June, if you would like to make a tax-deductible donation please click here (Adviser fp community donations) or contact our office on 9633 3300 and we can help you to arrange for your contribution to make a difference.
